We are looking for an enthusiastic kitchen/lunch assistant to join our friendly team. This role involves supporting the daily activities within a nursery environment at lunchtime, ensuring a safe and nurturing space for children to learn and grow. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively are essential for success in this position.
The hours would be 11:15am-2:15pm Monday to Friday all year, for 50 weeks of the year, although we would consider a term time only position for the right person, with the option of working more hours within the nursery setting.
The successful applicant must be able to work as part of a strong team, have a love for children, and must drive.
Duties:
1. Supervise and engage with children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.
2. Help the children with their independence.
3. Assist with kitchen duties including probing the food to ensure it is safe to eat and dishing this into serving dishes.
4. Communicate effectively with children and staff to foster a positive environment.
5. Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and across the nursery.
6. Organise the kitchen space.
7. Clean the kitchen.
8. Ensure the equipment is kept clean and efficient.
9. Load and unload the dishwasher.
10. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills.
Requirements:
1. A food hygiene certificate and DBS - but we can help with these.
2. Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting, or having experience with your own children, but not mandatory.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. A genuine passion for nurturing children's development and promoting a positive learning environment.
