Job Description: Junior Architect (Procurement & Operations)
-Position Overview -
A Junior Architect with a focus on Procurement and Operations will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and delivery of projects, while also supporting the procurement of materials and managing operational tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely execution of property development projects, balancing architectural creativity with practical aspects of construction and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Support:
- Assist in creating and refining architectural drawings, plans, and models under the guidance of the senior team.
- Support in the development of conceptual designs and presentation materials.
- Participate in design meetings, offering technical input and innovative solutions.
- Ensure design compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and environmental considerations.
2. Procurement:
- Procure and work closely with company suppliers to source materials, finishes, fixtures, and other construction-related products.
- Research suppliers and vendors to identify cost-effective, sustainable, and high-quality materials.
- Assist in preparing procurement schedules, RFQs (Request for Quotation), and purchase orders.
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Support in negotiating contracts, pricing, and delivery terms in line with the project budget.
3. Operations & Project Coordination:
- Coordinate with the operations team to ensure smooth execution of design and construction processes.
- Monitor on-site progress and assist in resolving design and construction challenges.
- Support the project management team in maintaining project timelines, ensuring milestones are met.
- Help in conducting site inspections and reviews to ensure design intent and quality control.
- Document and track project changes, schedules, and procurement-related expenses.
4. Sustainability & Compliance:
- Assist in integrating sustainable practices and materials into the design and procurement processes.
- Ensure that all materials and construction practices comply with local building regulations and environmental standards.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in architecture, sustainability, and construction materials.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams, including Project managers, the company CEO and consultants, to deliver cohesive projects.
- Communicate with external stakeholders, such as contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies, to facilitate project approvals and smooth execution.
- Assist in preparing presentations and reports for stakeholders, outlining project updates, procurement status, and design modifications.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement, supplier communications, and project progress.
- Assist in preparing reports, budgets, and procurement summaries for internal reviews and management meetings.
- Ensure proper documentation of design revisions, material selections, and project approvals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in architectural design, preferably with exposure to procurement and construction operations.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
Skills & Competencies:
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of construction materials, finishes, and equipment.
- Basic understanding of cost estimation and budgeting.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Additional Considerations:
- A valid architectural license or working towards it is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
