CRN Clinical Research Fellow - Breast Unit
This position is attached to the breast unit with optional on-call duties to support general surgery. The role involves supporting and developing clinical research within the breast unit, working alongside cancer research nurses and the research lead. It is suitable for candidates interested in a career in breast disease management, including surgical, oncology, pathology, or radiology fields.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Optional: On-call cover for general surgery at SHO level, including ward cover as required. Surgical operative experience is not necessary.
2. Allocate approximately 50% of daytime activity to support breast clinical research, aiming to increase recruitment to NIHR portfolio studies. Responsibilities include consenting patients, collating clinical data, and supporting follow-up data collection. Support for generic vaccine trials may also be required.
3. Attend CRN research fellow development days. The postholder will gain experience to potentially become a principal investigator (PI).
4. Develop clinical skills in breast disease management, with educational support tailored to career goals.
5. Provide clinical care for breast patients as needed.

1. Provide care for emergency general surgery cases during on-call shifts.
2. Support the breast unit through ward cover, assisting in theatre, and outpatient clinics.
3. Collaborate with cancer research nurses to ensure timely collation of clinical information for trials.
4. Support patients in recruitment for clinical trials.

Training and Qualifications
* BM MBBS or equivalent
* Completed Foundation training
* Interest in breast disease management
* Research experience
* GCP certification
