About us
Belong School Gloucestershire is a small independent school for students aged 12-16 with social, emotional, and mental health issues.
Using small groups and one-to-one teaching to encourage academic, social and emotional learning, we provide education for students in years 8-11 who have an Education Health and Care Plan for Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We specialise in working with parents, carers and other professionals to enable our students to strengthen their social, emotional and mental health whilst achieving academic outcomes to enable them to access post 16 further education and employment.
We provide a specialist learning environment that to the child feels and looks informal, but which is carefully and precisely crafted. Our classrooms are diverse - from our onsite provision to offsite facilities, to the child’s home environment. Each child has a bespoke curriculum consisting of our core offer (Maths, English and Science) and a selection of foundation subjects alongside a wide range of activities and experiences both on and off site.
About you
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with children, preferably with additional needs, and a passion for supporting them to achieve outcomes.
We require a degree of flexibility to adapt to the needs of our students, the learning environment, and a commitment to meeting targets set on EHCPS. Experience of working in an SEMH setting would be desirable.
About the role
As Outreach Learning Coach, you will work as part of a wider team to support students to engage with school-based education by identifying barriers to learning, implementing bespoke strategies and delivering a bespoke curriculum to address those and enable their school success.
You will deliver our curriculum through positive intervention, one-to-one or small group learning experiences and a unique approach to the educational needs of every student that includes a high degree of flexibility and opportunities for learning outside the classroom.
You will plan, deliver and monitor a range of activities in a range of settings, supporting them to return to school-based education and gain skills and independence.
We welcome applications from candidates with specialist or life skills, such as Forest School, sport, art, cooking, etc.
Benefits include:
* Supportive staff and leadership team
* Potential for progression
* Excellent CPD opportunities
* Commitment to staff wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programme
* Workplace pension
* Reimbursement of mileage and other expenses
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students is paramount and all staff are expected to share and embrace this commitment. Due to the nature of work in schools and contact with pupils, it is envisaged that all posts will require an enhanced DBS Disclosure and this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Any offer of employment is subject to two satisfactory professional references, medical clearance, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check (DBS), evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and evidence of qualifications. All of the above checks must have been completed before the start of employment.
As part of our due diligence for safer recruitment, we may carry out online searches for shortlisted candidates to help identify any incidents or issues which may need to be explored at interview. The searches would be made on open-source information and may include, but will not be limited to, the main social networking sites, including Instagram and Facebook.
