Automation Engineer
The Role
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Automation Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will have a background in PLC / HMI control systems incorporating Siemens S7 and/or Rockwell ControlLogix. Experience with Servo Drive Applications and Motion Control would be highly desirable.
This position would suit a multi-skilled engineer able to design electrical circuits and follow the machine through the PLC commissioning phase to final installation at customer premises. Collaboration with other departments and communication with our customers are essential to the success of the role. Intermittent international travel is a requirement of an Automation Engineer at Fords, to support installations and assist end users directly with upgrade projects.

Key Duties
1. Carry out electrical engineering design and software development on machine.
2. Carry out design studies and reviews and preparation of specifications for special projects.
3. Completion of the FAT document and ‘as-built’ electrical documentation.
4. Assistance with engineering queries and manufacturing quality problems.
5. Carry out installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting visits at customer sites worldwide, working closely with Service and Aftercare teams. Travel will be required approximately 4-5 times annually, for a week at a time.
Essential skills and experience
1. Experience in compiling BOM’s and MRP uploads.
2. Knowledge of safety equipment and standards.
3. Experienced with commissioning machines to FAT protocol.
4. Experience in providing remote programming support.
5. Working with end users to confirm functionality specifications and interface requirements.
Desirable skills and experience
1. Experienced in creating risk assessments and designing safety circuits to meet appropriate SIL level.
2. Experience in setup and implementation of vision systems.

Remuneration
* Discretionary bonus.
* Early Friday finish – 37 hour working week (Monday to Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm).
