Corporate Relations & Internships Manager
London based/Hybrid working
Up to £70K plus commission
Job Description
The purpose of the role is to:
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with business and industry.
2. Work with students to find out their aspirations.
3. Establish opportunities for internships and industry related projects.
4. Establish an ongoing guest lecture series.
5. Establish industry visits.
Main duties
Relationship management
1. Establish strong relationships with companies to provide internships (particularly in London), part time job opportunities, industry related project opportunities for students, and guest lectures.
2. Seek out and follow up new business contacts.
3. Keep contacts informed about the latest activities on campus.
4. Engage with alumni and the Industry Advisory Board to make new business connections.
Internships
1. Meet with students to find out their aspirations to inform the search for internships.
2. Identify and develop appropriate approaches to secure internships for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
3. Review and respond to all incoming JD's and requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
4. Work with the Head of Careers to ensure that students are prepared for their interviews/internships.
5. Liaise with Registry to ensure that UKVI reporting is undertaken.
6. Administer the internships and ensure that all students have a corporate and academic mentor and that meetings are taking place.
7. Liaise with companies to resolve any issues during the internship.
8. Follow up to get feedback which can be used to improve programmes.
Guest lectures/workshops/industry visits
1. Use industry, alumni, and other contacts to organise a relevant guest lecture/workshop series for students.
2. Organise industry visits to a range of different companies.
3. Work with the Head of Careers to ensure that students are prepared for the lectures/workshops/visits.
4. Ensure that events showcase the company and students to best effect.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
1. Business related degree or equivalent qualification.
2. Evidence of recent CPD.
3. Experience of establishing successful relationships with employers, recruitment partners, and/or internship providers.
4. Experience of networking with external and internal contacts to promote services and establish joint working.
5. Experience of organizing events.
Skills, knowledge and abilities
1. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of contacts, both internally and externally.
2. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
3. Excellent organizational skills.
4. Good record keeping and attention to detail.
5. Knowledge of key business sectors in both the private and public domains.
6. Understanding of student and graduate employability in HE and graduate employment.
7. Understanding of student expectations, particularly in terms of ambition and on programme experience at the postgraduate level.
8. Ability to leverage a wide network of companies to contact.
9. Understanding of the needs and different aspirations of a diverse range of students and graduates.
10. Experience of collecting, analysing, and reporting data to inform decision making and service planning.
11. Experience of working in a commercial business environment and/or business development.
12. Experience of organizing careers events, industry treks, and other activities.
