This project involves a luxury new build and the refurbishment of a listed house set in the beautiful Somerset countryside over the next 3 years.
Job Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of a luxury new build and refurbishment project. With at least 3 years of experience in similar high-end projects, the successful candidate will manage costs, budgets, procurement, and contractual agreements to ensure the project is completed to the highest standards. This is a permanent opportunity with long-term prospects for career development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and monitor the financial performance of the luxury new build and refurbishment project.
* Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts.
* Conduct regular site visits to assess the progress of the project, control costs, and identify any potential risks.
* Report regularly to senior management on project costs and budget adherence.
* Oversee procurement processes, including tendering and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Ensure compliance with all legal and company requirements through the management of subcontractor contracts.
* Advise on cost-saving opportunities, value engineering, and design adjustments to optimize project efficiency.
* Collaborate closely with project managers and site teams to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
* Manage cost-related disputes, claims, and risk management strategies.
* Keep precise and up-to-date records of all financial transactions and project documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, ideally with luxury residential or listed building projects.
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management practices.
* Proven ability to manage large-scale projects, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and procurement.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Quantity Surveying software and Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
