INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE
The vision of the Rising Generation department is to find innovative and imaginative ways to engage children, youth, and families in the life of the church. Since launching two years ago, our current Rising Generations Lead has kick-started ministry to 0–18s which has seen the church go from fewer than 10 under 16s on a Sunday to now well over 120 every week.
We’ve launched Kids and Youth on Sundays, Midweek Youth, run Youth Alpha, started Tots, and had to launch another to meet demand. All this along with some huge special events – like the 440 we had to our Light Party in 2023, or the thousands who came through our doors at Christmas and Easter. Each month we’re adding to the number of local schools we’re working in. We couldn’t have hoped for more.
Due to changes in family circumstances, the lead role is becoming vacant for someone to step in and take us from this solid foundation to the next level. We are ministering in a variety of contexts, and the Rising Generations Lead will help continue to develop and grow the ministry and facilitate the current groups and events, ultimately aimed at bringing the rising generation of children and youth into a living relationship with Jesus fuelled by the Holy Spirit.

Basingstoke Church is one church across four locations in the town of Basingstoke. The church has been here for hundreds of years, but in summer of 2022 a new season started as we were designated as a Resource Church with the aim of reaching the missing generations across the town.
Under a new leadership team – working with the HTB Network, the Church of England, and the Diocese of Winchester – we have seen significant growth across the church this year with many people coming to know Jesus after finding church for the first time in their lives.
As part of that, we have launched two brand new services which have drawn families and young people to know Jesus and to become part of the church, and we are about to launch three more to meet the demand. We believe the Lord is on the move in Basingstoke, drawing people to himself, and we are constantly looking to see what he is doing and all that we do is driven by that. Rooted in prayer, worship, and a dependence on the Holy Spirit.
