We are seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join the Primary Care Liaison Service in Wiltshire. The post is an established position that has become vacant due to the previous incumbent moving to another service within AWP. The post involves working as the Primary Care Liaison consultant for a single CMHT catchment area in North, West, and East Wiltshire, supported by a Specialty Doctor.
The consultant (post holder) will provide clinical leadership in the team, help triage referrals, assess patients, and make recommendations on care. Responsibilities include:
1. Providing advice to colleagues on assessment and management.
2. Liaising and working closely with the Intensive Service, Community Mental Health Team, and Primary Care.
3. Attending weekly interface meetings with PCLS, CMHTs, Primary Care Psychology, and North Wiltshire Intensive Service.
4. Working closely with the PCLS Manager to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality service.
5. Providing clinical supervision and management supervision for doctors reporting to them.
6. Delivering advice to service users, including undertaking assessments, making diagnoses, and determining appropriate service provision.
7. Supervising any medical staff providing input into the service.
8. Actively participating in clinical supervision.
9. Collaborating with Recovery, Intensive, and Inpatient Services to facilitate transitions through the care pathway.
10. Contributing to the development of services in line with best practices and nationally accredited standards.
11. Identifying appropriate care clusters and service users who require access to specialist services.
12. Participating in the maintenance, monitoring, and evaluation of service-specific performance indicators and targets.
13. Responding to all Advice and Guidance requests within 3-5 working days according to the new PCLS Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
14. Training and supervising junior medical staff.
15. Conducting medical and MDT teaching and supervision.
16. Regular attendance at PCLS Team MDT meetings.
17. Participating in Quality Improvement initiatives.
