We are inviting applications for a Research Associate/Fellow position on the SBE-UKRI funded project “Looked but failed to see” errors in human vision. This project is an international collaboration between Johan Hulleman (University of Manchester, Manchester, UK) and Jeremy Wolfe (Harvard University, Boston, USA). Although the initial duration is 9 months, a further extension may become available.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a world-leading project that aims to understand the fundamental processes of visual search and the role they play in the visual search tasks of daily life.
Responsibilities:
1. Day-to-day data collection and data analysis in the UK.
2. Help with the programming of experiments.
3. Preparation of presentations and manuscripts.
4. Preparation of data for sharing.
Qualifications:
1. Good understanding of the visual search field (essential).
2. Prior experience with eye tracking (Eyelink) and online experimentation (JavaScript) would be an advantage.
3. PhD (or equivalent) degree in a psychological, biological, or computational science.
We are committed to capacity-building and supporting team members to further their careers, and the post-holder will be supported to further their career portfolio, including publishing first-authored papers. Because this is an international collaboration, a few one-week visits to the US will be involved.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
Our University is positive about flexible working – you can find out more here.
