Do you enjoy working with farmers and other catchment stakeholders to promote sustainable land management practices? Do you have an interest in agriculture, water and the environment? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you to join our team as a Catchment Adviser.
What you'll do
As part of a team of Catchment Advisers and Catchment Scientists, you will identify risks to water quality and mitigate these risks by working with and advising farmers in nutrient and pesticide-sensitive surface water and groundwater catchments.
You will encourage them to reduce or make more efficient use of nutrients and/or pesticides to remove the need for treatment for these contaminants at our sources and improve the ecological status of local watercourses.
You will gain a thorough understanding of each catchment to enable prioritisation and targeting of catchment management activity.
You will engage with farmers to share water quality, soil and crop data to inform land management decision-making, while also providing advice on the implementation of diffuse pollution mitigation measures.
Additionally, you will signpost towards the most appropriate source of funding to support land management changes that will benefit water quality, including our grant schemes where appropriate.
What you'll need
You will be:
* self-sufficient
* an excellent communicator
* confident talking to and dealing with the farming community
* an established agricultural/environment/catchment adviser with three years of experience in relevant roles
* motivated and enthusiastic about sustainable land management.
In addition, you will have:
