About the role
Balfour Beatty have an exciting opportunity for a Electrician (Substation Wireman) to join our fantastic Power T&D team in the locations of Tealing & Lochay Scotland.
Role Purpose:
* Installation of HV plant and apparatus at all voltage levels from 400Kv to 33KV
* Installation of busbar and connectors
* Installation of ground earthing, hot tinning and mechanical bending/forming
* Installation of aluminium and steel structures
* Installation of cables
* Gland and terminating multicore and power cables to meet clients standards
* Understand and be conversant in red and green drawings and apply modifications as required
* Install labels and interlocks including electrical interlocks
* Resolve problems on site with the site Supervisors and managers
* Ensure all site procedures are being followed
What you'll be doing:
* To liaise with PM, site engineers, site manager and subcontractors on progress with the job to guarantee activities are coordinated effectively across a project location(s). Work with the relevant supporting functions to ensure equipment and materials are delivered to (or collected from) site in a timely manner.
* Ensure that accidents and near-miss incidents are promptly reported giving accurate details established at the time of the incident, assist in investigations when required.
* To ensure that documentary, data and reporting requirements are satisfied within the time frames required by all team members.
* SJIB Qualified
* Competent in the installation work where necessary.
Who we're looking for:
* Competent in BBPT&D site installation procedures
* CPCS training or similar
* Ability to work at Heights
* SSE/SPEN/NG authorisations as required (non-essential)
* MEWP licence and/or Telehandler/ROTO (non-essential)
* Able to pro-actively develop and maintain a strong safety culture.
* Able to identify competencies and skills required to undertake tasks and ensure that personnel are trained and competent to carry this out.
* Good communication skills to effectively brief team and engage with wider functions at a range of levels of seniority.
