Location: Thurrock, Essex Contract Type: Ltd Company Contractor Rate: £450/day Ltd Co £25/day Per Diem Schedule: 4 x 10-hour days (Mon - Thurs) 5 hours Friday Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Construction / Site Manager (E&I) to oversee and manage electrical and instrumentation (E&I) installation activities on a major project in Thurrock, Essex. This role requires a strong leader with a background in managing industrial, power generation, or oil & gas projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. Key Responsibilities: Project & Site Management Lead the execution of site-based construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and project timelines. Prepare and implement HSE Plans, Quality Plans, RAMS, and ITPs before mobilisation. Oversee the deployment of labour, supervision, and equipment, ensuring work fronts are efficiently managed. Ensure work methods align with company and client health & safety policies and industry regulations. Manage daily field reports, work progress tracking, and site-based record-keeping. Commercial & Project Controls Monitor and maintain cost control, reporting, time & attendance, working hours, pay rates, and labour mix. Identify and account for budget variances, including deviations from planned man-hours and resource allocation. Ensure timely submission of early warnings and variations for additional works beyond the agreed scope. Manage subcontractor procurement, evaluation, and commercial closeout. Technical & Quality Oversight Conduct site inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards. Oversee ITP compliance, method statement reviews, and document compilation. Monitor shutdown and interface management, ensuring smooth handovers. Track procurement and timely delivery of materials, tools, and long-lead items. Manage pre-commissioning, commissioning, and project turnover activities. Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting Attend and chair client meetings, subcontractor reviews, and internal progress updates. Work closely with engineering, HSEQ, commercial, and planning teams to ensure project success. Act as the main point of contact for client interactions, reporting, and technical clarifications. Required Experience & Qualifications: Electrical trade background preferred or relevant engineering qualification. 10 years' experience in construction/site management within Power Generation, Oil & Gas, or Heavy Industrial sectors. Proven ability to manage multi-discipline teams and subcontractors in a busy construction environment. Strong knowledge of commercial contract management, cost control, and dispute resolution. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage site teams. Understanding of safety legislation, compliance, and best practices in construction. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and project reporting tools. Additional Information: Must be eligible to work in the UK & Europe. Candidates should be prepared to work extended hours as per site requirements.
