PERSONAL ASSISTANT
SOMETHING ABOUT ME
I am a 13-year-old boy living in Cilfynydd with cerebral palsy looking to employ a personal assistant.
I am unable to walk unaided so I use a therapy stool to get around. I’m nonverbal and of a happy disposition. I love toys that spin and lights, I enjoy nursery rhymes, my specially adapted toys and watching Go Jetters, Justin’s House and Swashbuckle.
Purpose of the job
You will provide me with support inside my home, assistance with feeding and drinking and ensuring all my needs are met. You will often need to pre-empt my needs.
Hours of work
Minimum 6 hours per week, hours used flexibly
Rate of pay
£13.25
Tasks can include
Supporting me with my personal care
Assisting me with feeding and drinking
Assisting me with operating toys
Ensuring my safety at all times
Type of person required
Someone who has experience working with children with complex needs
You will be prepared to undergo manual handling training which is compulsory
Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed
Proactive in situations and be able to problem solve on your own initiative
Patience is essential
A male is preferred because of the element of personal care. As a young man I would be more comfortable with a man doing this. It is to help me maintain my dignity.
About the job
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
