Hybrid working - 2 days based in Warrington
Rate: £450 - £550 p/d (outside IR35)
Our client is a leading nuclear engineering firm that provides specialist design services to a variety of clients.
They currently require an Environmental Consultant to join their team based in Warrington.
Responsibilities and Activities:
1. Produce (as lead author) and review environmental documentation in line with legislative and project requirements, including options assessments, aspects assessments, BPM assessments/reviews, and Environmental Support Files.
2. General radiological awareness.
3. Competent in technical report writing.
4. Attend HAZOPs/HAZANs/Design reviews (mostly remotely, although some travel within the contract may be required).
5. Attend project meetings including meetings with the regulator.
6. Contribute to the accuracy of the site's Management System documentation.
7. Track, action, and close out internal and external environmental actions.
8. Represent FCA Programme at internal meetings and committees.
9. Provide specialist environmental support to interface with the regulator on behalf of the FCA Programme facilities and projects.
10. Be appointed to the Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) Corporate Body to provide advice on the EASR18 (Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations) Permit to projects.
Requirements:
1. Be educated to at least an HND in environmental studies (or equivalent qualification) plus a minimum of 5 years' experience working in the nuclear industry.
2. Have experience of decommissioning activities and of managing discharges to the environment in line with regulatory requirements, preferably the Environmental Authorisation (Scotland) Regulations (EASR) and the application of Best Practicable Means (BPM).
3. Have experience of working within an engineering design project and producing associated environmental documentation and advice.
