Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Finance Commercial and Operations Manager to join our team. To begin with, this role will be on a temporary basis and include maternity cover for the current Head Of Finance; however, the role is set to become permanent for the right candidate due to business growth.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial and commercial support across both the commercial, campus operations, and 3PL functions, ensuring optimal profitability and strategic success.
As part of the Finance Team and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be supporting financial topics related to campus, new business, contract renewals, customer (ours and campus clients) profitability, and risk management.
You will also provide financial expertise, training, and guidance to the operations team, helping drive cost efficiency and maintain competitive advantages. Your role will involve managing complex commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring strategic goals are met, and supporting the executive team to exceed financial targets.
Duties
1. Live our values and build excellent relationships across our portfolio and group
2. Support all financial aspects of the commercial area, including new business, renewals pricing, customer profitability, risk & liability
3. Ensure all commercial risks and opportunities are thoroughly understood
4. Appraise proposals for new business, renewals, and campus capital expenditures, balancing reward and risk
5. Develop and maintain business pricing tools to secure profitable business opportunities and margin generation, recommending opportunities for improvement
6. Contribute to strategic planning and long-term goal setting
7. Support financial topics in campus operations, focusing on costings and purchasing to achieve long-term competitive cost advantages
8. Understand and manage commercial and financial risks with clients, service providers, partners, and suppliers
9. Report and communicate operational savings and network profitability
10. Advise on benchmarks and develop strategies with suppliers for best practice procurement
11. Support operations teams in delivering our customers' expectations and/or exceeding budgets
12. Provide input on operations profit improvement plans and the development of costing models
13. Analyse and report on business performance, challenging stakeholders at all levels on the quality of business information and related action plans
14. Support the budget and QBR reviews, ensuring operational and commercial performance are in line with expectations
15. Manage a finance team of 3, providing training and support where required
Skills
1. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite
2. Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
3. ACCA qualified/part qualified
4. Excellent knowledge of Sage 50 accounts
