Swimming Teacher (16/268)
Location: Dumfries
Salary: £8,178.50 - £8,683.58
Hours: 11 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.
Are you passionate about providing high-quality swimming tuition and looking for a new challenge? Swimming teaching is a highly rewarding role that teaches people a valuable life skill, and we are looking for someone who would like to join our team and be instrumental in this.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and self-motivated Swimming Teachers to assist in the delivery of our DG1 Swimming Programme, which includes Learn to Swim and Education Swimming Sessions. Working hours can include mornings, afternoons/evenings, and Saturday mornings. Job shares will be considered, so we welcome applications from anyone who wants to be a Swimming Teacher, even if it's for a smaller amount of hours, as the hours available are spread throughout the week. Responsibilities:
1. Instruct swimming lessons.
2. Assist with the administration and promotion of swimming lessons as required.
Qualifications:
1. Current Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) or UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics certificate, or equivalent.
2. UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatics certificate (essential).
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Experience teaching children and adults.
5. Experience writing and following lesson plans.
6. Ability to work with varying abilities of swimmers.
7. Excellent customer care skills.
8. Background knowledge of the Dumfries & Galloway Council Learn to Swim Scheme (ideal).
9. Understanding of Child Protection (ideal).
10. First Aid Certificate and knowledge of Health and Safety (desirable).
Requirements
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to the formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
