The West Brom Building Society are looking to recruit a Strategic Relationship Manager who will report directly to the Head of Supplier Management.
The Strategic Relationship Manager is responsible for driving best in class performance from a Materially Outsourced supplier and associated under-pinning supply chain. Using a diverse skillset, the Strategic Relationship Manager will in part be a performance manager, an ambassador, a stakeholder manager, a risk representative, a contract manager and will drive value primarily from one significant outsourced arrangement.
Leveraging various policies and procedures the Strategic Relationship Manager will work closely with the Procurement Manager and the Head of Supplier Management to deliver the Sourcing and Supplier Management Framework. The Framework aligns to 3 phases of the contractual lifecycle:
Sourcing
Ongoing Management
Transition and Change
This role closely aligns to the Ongoing Management Phase of the lifecycle.
Key responsibilities are:
Primarily manages a strategic, outsourced supplier relationship with potential to manage tactical and operational suppliers where necessary.
Responsible for holding service reviews with key partners, ensuring performance is measured and reported through appropriate communication loops.
Responsible for ensuring that regulatory requirements for the supply chain are met, activities recorded and reported appropriately.
Drives service delivery through measuring and reporting on SLAs and KPIs, taking action where needed.
Managing the contractual lifecycle, keeping a forecast of all sourcing activity and planning accordingly, proactively leads and or supports sourcing activities (including renewals) partnering with internal stakeholders to gather, assess and challenge business requirements.
Responsible for service improvement and service innovation with partners
Foster strong credible partnerships with all internal stakeholders.
Own supplier management processes that ensure consistent management of our suppliers contracts and performance.
Identify and act on opportunities and mitigate risk within the supply base.
Monitor and drive compliance of the suppliers with obligations within the agreement and alignment to Regulatory requirements.
Monitor the delivery of the suppliers against the appropriate level of commitment in the agreement.
Manage and initiate Service Improvement initiatives to track and address failures against contractual commitments, ensuring remediation plans exist.
Act as a contract advisor and support/lead on contract negotiations, change management, new IT contracting or termination and supplier on-boarding.
Act as an escalation point for contractual queries or disputes.
Communicate with stakeholders to set expectations and manage perceptions about sourced services and the sourcing strategy.
Communicate effectively with all levels of ITS&S technical staff, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Architects and ITSS management, and all levels of the business stakeholders.
The skills and experience required are:
A thorough understanding of the PRAs SS2/21 and associated guidance
Strong IT procurement, contract and supplier management capability.
An understanding of software and licensing suppliers and principles including Cloud; SAAS; PAAS and experience with the like of Oracle; Azure and AWS.
Experience of material outsourcing criteria within Financial Services environment is preferred
A strong self-motivation, tenacity and a strong desire to make improvements.
Ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders of all levels, balancing challenge with pragmatism.
Ability to tailor communications and present information clearly for a variety of different audiences.
A good understanding of standard commercial terms, contract constructs, and the negotiation challenges associated with these.
Proven negotiation experience and analysis skills.
Confidence to work with ambiguity.
Flexibility and resilience.
Effective problem solver, ability to quickly assess technical escalations.
High level of commercial knowledge with sound business acumen.
Strong delivery focus with an ability to help others get on board quickly with changing priorities
Specific experience of managing materially outsourced arrangements within financial services
Experience in managing 3rd party suppliers and contracts, specifically within the Financial Services sector.
