What's involved with this role: Interim Environmental Health Officer - Health Protection Reference no: NNC RQ1406187 Pay Rate: £20.85 per hour PAYE 37 Monday – Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 This opening assignment is for 2-3 months City: NORTHAMPTON The post holder is required to work across the Council area (Wellingborough, Corby, Kettering and East) supporting the team with a backlog of Inspections. The post holder may be required to support other work such as the investigation of complaints. Undertake duties in respect of all commercial premises within the district so as to fulfil the Council's statutory duties for food safety, health and safety and control of food borne illness and infectious diseases. Ensure businesses comply with food safety and health and safety requirements. Key responsibilities: Inspect/audit and undertake interventions in commercial premises to determine compliance with food safety and health and safety legislation. Investigate food hygiene and health and safety complaints, infectious or food borne disease, accidents and dangerous occurrences. Coach, mentor and support compliant businesses. Qualifications: BSc or MSc Degree in Environmental Health or Higher Certificate in Food Control or equivalent. Registered with EHRB/CIEH Full driving licence and access to car for work Experience: Experience in Health Protection to include food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control and health promotion Experience of a wide range of enforcement activity Experience of dealing with members of the public Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills Able to produce clear and concise and persuasive written reports and letters Able to demonstrate skills in planning and organising Ability to work as part of a team and manage own caseload Please quote the Job Title & Vacancy Reference No. in your application, or we will be unable to match your CV to the role being applied for.
