SYEDA has evolved over the years from a small self-help group for people with eating disorders (ED) into a regional organisation that is also a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Services currently offered include support groups, CBT, talking therapies, occupational therapy, and a range of education/training programmes.
We deliver services across the whole of South Yorkshire with the majority of demand for our services currently in Sheffield.
Working in partnership with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) across South Yorkshire, SYEDA will focus on providing a range of training, education and awareness raising activities to complement and support the community eating disorder services across South Yorkshire helping to meet the ICP’s vision of ‘Everyone in our diverse communities lives a happy, healthier life for longer’.
By developing a comprehensive training package of support, we will be able to evidence that we are working towards the ICP shared outcomes of ‘Best start in life for Children & Young People’, ‘Living healthier and longer lives AND improved wellbeing for those with greatest need’ and providing ‘People with the skills and resources they need to thrive’.
Main purpose of the post:
The Trainer post will utilise clinical knowledge to develop and deliver a variety of training packages and resources to support healthcare and education professionals working across South Yorkshire so that they can recognise the early warning signs of an eating disorder presentation and be confident in providing the appropriate support and signpost appropriately. Workshop topics will be informed by engagement with patients and system partners.
Training will be delivered via several mediums including in person, online and via pre-recorded videos. The post will make effective use of all new technologies.
Main Duties
1. Training
2. To design and deliver (face to face and online) our training programme.
3. To work in partnership with commissioners and service leads to identify audiences.
4. To support SYEDA in raising awareness of eating disorders and promote our services at events, conferences, and fundraisers.
5. To deliver bespoke training sessions and workshops to health professionals including GPs, school nurses and other key professionals working with young people and vulnerable groups.
6. To co-produce content and design online learning modules with the clinical manager.
7. To work with the marketing and comms officer to initiate a social media and marketing strategy aimed at raising awareness around ED and the learning opportunities that we offer.
8. To work with the Business Manager to monitor and collate data for all activities carried out and provide required information to the commissioners and any other applicable body.
9. To carry out other duties that may arise from time to time relevant to the job.
10. To attend or set up meetings as appropriate, when required.
11. To undertake training and development relevant to the job as identified within supervisions, annual appraisals and personal training plans.
12. To be involved with the clinical team – attending meetings, partnership working for training purposes, developing own knowledge.
13. To comply with SYEDA policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies.
14. To be flexible in working hours as there may be evening work, the possibility of occasional weekend work; travel away from the office base will be required such as for attending meetings and training.
15. To have a DBS disclosure at the enhanced level as necessary for working at SYEDA.

Final interpretation of this job description rests with the CEO in consultation with the jobholder. It will be reviewed annually at the appraisal and any amendments negotiated with the jobholder. The jobholder is expected to share in other SYEDA work as time permits and by agreement with the line manager.
