An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee/ Trained plaster technician to join our existing plaster technician. Your base will be North Tyneside General Hospital but will be expected to work trust wide. Successful candidates will start in a band 4 trainee post, with progression to a band 5 on successful completion of the British Orthopaedic Association casting certificate.
To apply for this post you must have a minimum of 12 months experience of working as a plaster technician assistant, carry a valid driving license and have access to a car for multi site working. This is a seven day service as a result there is an expectation to work the weekends.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, team player and committed to deliver a high standard of care.

The trainee plaster technician will actively work along side other practitioners in the orthopaedic team. To provide high quality, efficient and effective care within trauma and orthopaedics.
The team see a wide variety of patients, which include outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and theatres, treating both adult and paediatric patients.

Follow directions/instructions from the Orthopaedic technicians and participate in individual patient treatments.
Train to demonstrate high standards of casting application through competency based assessments.
To partake in the provision of an Orthopaedic and Technical service of the highest possible standard, within both the Trauma and Orthopaedic department and other departments of the Trust.
Successful achievement of a British Orthopaedic casting certificate within 18 months of commencement is a mandatory requirement of this role. Trainees will be supported at every step to achieve this, however failure to meet this requirement may result in a termination of employment.
