Electrical Design Engineer
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading team in the food processing industry. Based on-site in Milton Keynes, this customer-facing role involves designing and developing advanced electrical systems for bespoke machinery, working collaboratively with engineering and sales teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and integrate electrical systems for specialized food processing equipment.
2. Lead projects from conception to installation, ensuring accuracy and clear communication with stakeholders.
3. Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to meet customer needs and identify design improvements.
4. Visit customer sites (20%+ travel) to analyze production processes, evaluate systems, and provide training.
5. Develop electrical drawings, manuals, and procedures using AutoCAD/Draftsight.
6. Troubleshoot electrical and control systems, ensuring seamless integration with customer manufacturing lines.
7. Stay updated on industry trends and implement innovative solutions to maintain product leadership.
8. Provide remote support via VPN and maintain an updated CAD library of electrical designs.
Skills & Qualifications
1. Degree or HNC in Electrical, Electromechanical, Robotics, Automation, or related discipline, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
2. Proven track record designing electrical systems for capital equipment or special-purpose machinery.
3. Experience with gearboxes, motors, PLCs, servo controllers, and safety devices.
4. Proficiency in AutoCAD/Draftsight and strong troubleshooting skills.
5. Hands-on approach with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
6. Self-motivated, able to work autonomously in a small UK team with support from a US-based team.
Desirable Skills
1. Knowledge of food processing equipment design.
2. Programming or coding experience.
3. Understanding of factory production lines and systems.
