An exciting opportunity has arisen for asuccessful candidate to join (CHoICE) in the position of Maintenance Craftsperson(Joiner). Providing services on behalf of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHSFoundation Trust, CHoICE is an independent wholly owned subsidiary companywhich provides all hard and soft facility services at Sunderland Royal Hospitaland associated sites.
Thesuccessful applicant will join a team of existing Building Maintenance staffdirectly employed to form part of the Estates Hard FM services within CHoICE.The Team provides planned/reactive building maintenance activities, anemergency on call service covering 365 days per annum as well as undertakingminor building related installations and building related minor works services.
The base salary range for this role is £28,303- £31,052. However, as the role will require the participation within an oncall rota and require the completion of overtime either as a result of callouts or during planned occurrences to meet the needs of the service CFSprovides, additional monetary rewards will be generated as part of this role.
The expected earnings presented withinthis advert have been established from actual earnings earned within thefinancial year 2021/22 and are based upon similar roles within theorganisation. The additional earnings are based upon an obtained average and itwill be typical to earn more/less than this amount.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must have a detailedunderstanding of construction processes in relation to joinery and otherrelated building works in accordance with relevant statutory and mandatorylegislation and best practice guidance. He/she must also be able to provideevidence of the completion/obtainment of recognised relevant joineryapprenticeship and ideally will have gained maintenance experience within ahealthcare environment or similar although this is not essential.
You will be expected to receive identifiedworkloads on a handheld device from the Estates and Facilities Help Desk and beexpected to organise and prioritise these daily activities to ensure the tasksare completed in the most efficient and effective manner. Support and guidancewill be provide where necessary to ensure CHoICE can fulfil its statutory andmandatory obligations.
The role will also require the individual tohave a flexible and positive approach to all activities and have the ability todeal with new scenarios as they arise. The role will furthermore requireexcellent communication skills and will require liaison directly with clinicaland non-clinical staff and service users.

To undertake maintenance andinstallation work/activities appropriate to the core specialists skills acrossthe whole range of building related services. The post holder will also be requiredto participate in the current CFS shift pattern/system, current on-call rotaand undertake overtime when the service needs dictate for which appropriatepayments will be made.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Basic numeracy & literacy skills to level 1 or equivalent
2. Basic IT Skills
3. BTEC/ONC, City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 in relevant building discipline
4. Completion of recognised and accredited apprenticeship in a relevant building discipline
Desirable
5. Advanced craft certificate or NVQ level 4
6. Relevant qualification in the maintenance of fire doors
Experience
Essential
7. Knowledge and experience of engineering and building systems typically found within a large NHS Acute Trust
8. Detailed knowledge and experience of joinery related & building requirements and regulations typically found within large NHS Acute Trust acquired through qualifications and relevant experience

9. Previous experience of working within a similar maintenance environment
