Job Overview: 9-12 Month Year in Industry Student Placement
“YEAR IN INDUSTRY” PLACEMENT – APPLICATIONS, DESIGN & TECHNICAL MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Amarinth delivers world-leading expertise in the design, application and manufacture of high-specification industrial pumps, for the petrochemical, oil and gas, renewable and nuclear industries. We have over 3,500 installations in over 50 countries, on all 5 continents of the world.
Due to significant growth in the last few years, we are looking to strengthen our existing team with the appointment of a 9-12 month student placement within our Engineering Department – a “Year in Industry” opportunity. We are also mindful of our responsibility to contribute to the development of the next generation of engineers in the UK and feel that this is one way of doing so.
This role provides an opportunity to gain an insight into manufacturing and engineering in a successful British company, with an expanding global presence. As a forward-thinking engineering company, we appreciate the value to students of spending a year in industry and the benefits which can accrue to them, especially by making them more attractive to potential employers, upon completion of their course. We have an established track-record of providing a high-quality experience for our Year in Industry students. One of them has recently commented:
“I chose to work at Amarinth because I knew that I would be offered a unique experience. I have had opportunities to get involved with many different parts of Engineering including (but not limited to): CAD, Manufacturing/Customer Drawings, Technical Aspects and Resolving Customer/Manufacturing Issues. The team here at Amarinth is incredibly friendly and you feel very included and valued as a member of the company. My favourite aspect of the year was getting to know the team and sharing the responsibility and embracing the spirit of being an Engineer at Amarinth. I chose to do a placement year because for Engineering, experience in industry is great for employability. Working at Amarinth has given me a broader understanding of engineering industries as I have been able to interact with and understand other processes such as Procurement, Manufacturing, Customer Communications and Assembly/Test procedures rather than just Engineering”.
The role includes the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the company’s processes and guidelines to produce all relevant drawings/documentation within the Applications Engineering Department. As an addition to this, there will also be opportunities to have involvement with both the Technical and Design Engineering Departments with associated workload.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they are keen and able to forge a role for themself in a forward-thinking, dynamic and successful company. They will do this by being self-motivated, hard-working, reliable, polite, keen to learn and progress, and by being able to contribute effectively in a customer-oriented, teamworking environment.
An attractive reward package is offered for this role, which includes a competitive salary, contributory pension (upon meeting the entry criteria), life-assurance, 25 days’ holiday per year plus public holidays and discretionary profit-related pay/bonus. All Amarinth employees have an annual pay review.
This position will be based in our main office within the Engineering Department at our Rendlesham premises, near Woodbridge, Suffolk.
Amarinth encourages its employees to develop and grow with the company and offers a clear career path to those wishing to advance within the company. Our greatest asset and most important resource are the people who work here. We focus on their wellbeing, happiness and safety as a priority over everything else. To be true to our core values, company vision and our overall mission, we maintain and promote the mental health and the wellbeing of all of our staff as a priority.
