You will be responsible for the solution concept, requirements, architecture and design and seeing the system into service. You will use your skills and experience to lead technical teams that may be located internally, at customer sites, or with commercial partners. You will work with a range of different technologies, including connected services, custom hardware, and communications technology. You will manage key stakeholder relationships, and create novel solutions to challenging problems. Working with senior management, you will be advising on technical direction and often working at a strategic level. You will be working in a positive, creative and friendly environment and be part of a wider profession of Solution Architects. We will provide mentoring and guidance to help you settle in quickly. Job description Putting your skills to use Using your diverse range of skills, you will: Work with colleagues and customers to understand their specific need and requirements. Understand the big picture in a customers programme and ensure new solutions will integrate with existing products without issue. Create the solution to answer the customers true needs, documenting your solution, architecture and technical strategy for the development team to use. You will tailor the development approach to best deliver output. Provide leadership for development teams and ensure they fully understand your technical system design and deliver to the required quality. Remain up to date with current guidance, processes and best practice. Share your experience and knowledge with your peers. Person specification More About You To apply for this role, you will already have: Experience of technically leading complex project work. Experience of leading product developments in a technical team. An understanding of what a high-level system architecture should include e.g. interfaces, specifications, standards and technical strategy for delivery. A practical understanding of principals and techniques used in architecting the technical aspects of development engineering. To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have: Hands-on experience of requirements capture, prototyping and producing the high-level system architecture of a solution. Experience collaborating with academia and Industry. Experience of handing a product over into service including organising user training guidance and support arrangements. Experience of mentoring or coaching more junior staff, particularly around skills development. Your Personal Skills You will be the type of person who: Will tactfully challenge a stated user requirement to better understand what the true underlying requirement and need is. Thinks outside of the box, not afraid to use creative solutions, and understands that a completely different solution to what was expected can revolutionise working practices and outcomes. Enjoys collaboration and communication with key stakeholders. Is comfortable leading a team and working with people with a diverse range of skills, sharing ideas about how to get the results needed. Is proactive about maintaining and developing your knowledge and skills and enjoys learning. Acts as a role model and encourages others to develop. Is innovative in their approach, either through creativity in problem solving, or use of entrepreneurial ways of working. Has good communication skills across all levels. Has the ability to see the bigger picture and how a change will affect the wider system. Has a strong attention to detail, equally happy to get to the bottom of an issue or understand a customers true need.
