Here at Rainbows Hospice, we provide specialist end-of-life, palliative and respite care to babies, children and young people (BCYP) with conditions that means their lives may be shorter than most. We have state-of-the-art facilities at Lark Rise which allows our BCYP’s with pain and physical difficulties to have opportunities that we take for granted; from socialising, taking a bath, being in a swimming pool, or playing on the swings. But this would not be possible without our passionate and dedicated Estates & Facilities Team who maintain and ensure the health and safety of our buildings and grounds.
Due to expansion, we are currently seeking a Maintenance Rep/Handyperson to join our Estates & Facilities Team, to manage and carry out all minor repairs, ensure safe working practices and carry out statutory checks.
This role will be based at the Hospice on Lark Rise in Loughborough. You may need to travel to the retail shops to carry out any minor repairs or supervise contractors carry out work therefore a driving license is required.
This role will be 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. You will be part of the on-call rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
About the role
Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
1. To manage and carry out minor repairs in the following areas: plumbing, joinery, engineering, electrical, vehicles, play equipment, internal decoration.
2. To manage a programme of scheduled maintenance of all areas of hospice including decoration, refurbishment and rebuilding work.
3. To liaise with external contractors, oversee their work and ensure compliance with hospice policies whilst on site.
4. To carry out all types of painting and redecoration works including wall papering, painting with various paints, varnishes and finishes both inside and outside.

Essential Requirements
6. Competent in minor property maintenance issues/ plant/ electrical/ engineering/ plumbing/ grounds maintenance
7. Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislative requirements
8. Experience of dealing with the public (adults and children)
9. Experience of Managing Contractors
Desirable Requirements
10. Qualification in PAT testing
11. Experience of pool maintenance
12. Painting and decorating experiencer
