About This Role:
As the UK Therapy Area Commercial Lead, Rare Diseases, you will be at the helm of our affiliate-based Therapy Area team with responsibility for in market, launch and future pipeline medicines.
This role is accountable for the development, implementation and delivery of Biogen’s competitive in market strategy in addition to developing and implementing pre and post-launch strategy to ensure the success of our expanding portfolio. As a naturally collaborative leader you will work to create a one team mindset aligning local and global strategies across our multi-disciplinary teams and partners whose alignment is essential in delivering success for your sales and marketing team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial UK you will join the Commercial Leadership Team contributing further to strategy development across the Biogen portfolio and ensuring that we meet our financial, compliance, and organisational goals while fostering a high-performing team culture that thrives on innovation and excellence.

What You’ll Do:
* Be the accountable individual for the Rare Disease business delivering growth and revenue ambitions for our in-market medicines whilst preparing for the future through the creation of exceptional launch plans for this expanding portfolio.
* Own the P&L through leading the team to develop clear strategic and tactical plans, prioritising investment to maximise growth and impact whilst managing trade-offs in a dynamic environment.
* Create our go to market pre-launch and post-launch strategies, ensuring seamless alignment with EU+ and global strategies and driving local implementation for launch excellence.
* Recruit, motivate and train a high-calibre team, including direct leadership responsibility for both the sales and marketing team, setting meaningful KPIs and ensuring meaningful engagement on development plans to prepare for in market delivery and flawless launches.
* Drive innovation and foster leadership at all levels, ensuring strong collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical, External Affairs, CE&O and other departments.
* Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans that analyse markets and define short and long-term strategies for the rare disease portfolio in line with company goals.
* Represent the affiliate business in internal meetings, advocating for local needs and ensuring compliance with local laws and codes.
* Lead brand and portfolio strategy while monitoring and adjusting strategies based on market research and competitor insights.
* Oversee commercial performance and develop growth plans to maximize business returns.
* Build and develop strong customer relationships, maintaining a network of healthcare professionals and working in partnership to develop services and treatments.
* Promote a professional and positive image of the company and its products to key healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
* Set and drive local delivery against KPIs, ensuring the highest standards of strategic account management and execution with operational excellence.
* Work with CE&O to motivate sales teams and drive compliant performance.

Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Science, with a CIM marketing diploma preferred.
* Substantial marketing leadership experience or transferable commercial experience in the biotech/pharma industry.
* Rare disease market experience is highly preferred.
* Previous experience in sales, ideally in a leadership role.
* Full P&L accountability and management highly desirable.
* Track record of launching new products and driving growth within a portfolio.
* Proven experience managing specialised products in secondary care and skilled in opinion leader liaison.
* Extensive experience in leading complex cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines (medical, sales, marketing, market access, external affairs, CE&O).
* Demonstrated ability in navigating competitive markets with system and cost containment challenges.
* Broad commercial expertise, including the ability to evaluate and analyse customer and market needs.
* Leadership, motivational, and people management skills.
* Awareness of change management principles with experience leading and building organisations adept at responding to change.
* Flexibility and adaptability, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Customer-focused with a passion for field engagement and building relationships with key opinion leaders/influencers.
