The apprenticeship will be delivered as a 3 year programme in Therapeutic Radiography with on-the-job training at Southend Hospital Radiotherapy department and specific academic support from a higher education institute. On completion of the training period, the employee will be expected to qualify as a Therapeutic Radiographer and gain HCPC registration in order to practice.

Main duties of the job
We are a friendly and welcoming team, working in a very busy department treating cancer patients to satisfy local and national targets.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holders will fulfil a key role in providing Radiotherapy care and support to patients.
As a trainee Therapeutic Radiographer, you will gain experience and knowledge in all areas of Radiotherapy delivery including pre-treatment and planning, patient care, treatment, and quality assurance processes. You will be working under the supervision of qualified therapeutic radiographers.

Qualifications
Essential
1. GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at level 2 or above (grade 4, or previously C)
2. Evidence of successful formal study at Level 3
3. If you do not have a minimum of six months experience working in a health and social care capacity, you should hold one of the following: 96 UCAS points from three A levels or equivalent qualifications such as BTEC Nationals, Cambridge Technicals, OCR Nationals, and T Levels. Access to HE Diploma from a QAA recognised Access to HE courses Level 3 Apprenticeship Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ's) New or existing Level 4 or 5 qualifications such as HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Certificate HE or Diploma HE. Previous degree. Other qualifications may be considered in discussion with the university.
