Wrexham University has a deep seated commitment to making a difference to the well-being of future generations. We are also committed to maximizing our impact as an anchor institution. Following the recent appointments of our Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Wrexham University is developing a new Vision and Strategy to 2030. As part of that process, we are seeking an effective and impactful Pro Vice-Chancellor External Engagement and Partnerships to join us in developing sustainable, long-term partnerships that make a positive difference locally, nationally, and internationally.
Comprising over 10,000 students, of which 10% are international students, our academic portfolio covers four domains across two Faculties, representing areas of distinctive strength: Health and Social Sciences; Science, Technology and Engineering; Business; Creative Industries. Working with the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and the wider Executive Team, the role will include building strong alliances with Wrexham City leaders, local, regional and national authorities, and our collaborative partners, including F.E. Colleges, both nationally and internationally. Engagement with businesses and development bodies, such as the North-East Wales Investment Zone, will be a key aspect of this role and will require the successful post holder to demonstrate their ability to build authentic and trusting relationships across a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor External Engagement and Partnerships will be joining a Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Team committed to excellence. As a member of VCET, they will engage with a range of central committees. The Pro Vice-Chancellor will provide strategic direction for building and maintaining regional, national, and international partnerships while also having operational oversight of existing arrangements and enhancing international recruitment strategies, as well as developing and enhancing our portfolio of international research partnerships.
We are looking for our Pro Vice-Chancellor to be commercial and entrepreneurial in approach, balancing strategic risk with reward, and ensuring the brand of Wrexham is protected and enhanced while contributing to driving the regional economy. Working with the International Team, the PVC will be responsible for the formulation and delivery of our International Plan, which will sit as part of our ongoing development of the institutional strategic plan.
