Under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist, you will be supporting functional skill-building by facilitating a variety of activities in self-care, meal preparation, shopping, community trips and other practical skills in one-to-one and group sessions. You will contribute to the assessment, monitoring and evaluation of structured sessions in order to measure progression and effectiveness.
Under the guidance of the Physiotherapist, you will run simple exercise classes and enable service users to complete their personal exercise programmes. You will participate in sessions with the physiotherapist to facilitate physical rehabilitation of a standing, gait/mobility as well as balance.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.
You will be working 23.5 hours.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. GCSE/O-level (A-C) Mathematics, English and a Science subject or equivalent NVQ2
2. 1 year experience working in a rehabilitation facility or similar environment as an assistant
3. Experience as an occupational therapy assistant, physiotherapy assistant or other therapy assistant working under the guidance of an Occupational therapist or Physiotherapist
4. Good command of the English language, good verbal and written skills
5. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
6. You will need to be fit and able to handle the physical requirements of the job such as pushing people in wheelchairs, assisting someone to stand, moving equipment and helping with personal care.
