Manufacturing Operations Manager
Telford, UK | Up to £80,000 DOE | Permanent, Full-Time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to join a leading manufacturing facility in Telford. The site produces a wide range of fasteners and precision components, serving industries such as automotive, construction, renewable energy, agriculture, and commercial transportation.
This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for driving operational strategy, performance, and excellence across a technically complex production environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, develop, and motivate a large team of managers, supervisors, and production staff.
2. Define and deliver the site's operational strategic plan in line with wider business goals.
3. Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence using tools such as CIP, DVP, and 8D root cause analysis.
4. Manage complex manufacturing operations, including metal forming, rolling, machining, and thermal processing.
5. Oversee maintenance and facilities functions to minimise downtime and support business continuity.
6. Ensure all health, safety, and environmental standards are met, including up-to-date risk assessments.
7. Meet production targets aligned with customer demand, while enhancing efficiency and multi-skilling.
8. Foster a customer-focused approach, ensuring any issues are resolved effectively with long-term solutions.
9. Manage and monitor KPIs covering productivity, quality, on-time delivery (OTD), TOC, AtD, EHS, and employee engagement.
10. Build strong communication across departments and support staff development through training and coaching.
11. Support capital investment planning (CAPEX) in response to market demand and growth opportunities.
What We're Looking For
1. Proven experience in a senior manufacturing, production, or operations management role.
2. Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
3. Knowledge of metal-based or precision engineering manufacturing processes.
4. Commercially and financially astute, with strong business awareness.
5. Experience working within a KPI-driven environment.
6. Effective communicator with excellent planning, analytical, and coaching skills.
7. Calm under pressure, logical, and adaptable with a hands-on leadership style.
8. Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience in a similar environment).
