The post holder is responsible for the co-ordination of clinical governance procedures and frameworks within Neonatal services, ensuring systems are in place to manage clinical risk effectively. The post holder will provide leadership, guidance and expertise within the multi-disciplinary team for neonatal services for clinical governance and risk management in line with the Trust-wide framework.
This will include developing and putting in place strategies and frameworks that ensure Neonatal services meets its obligations for clinical governance including risk management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will foster a culture amongst teams that ensures clinical quality and risk management remains one of the top priorities within the Health group through:
* Enabling all staff to actively participate in identifying, actioning and evaluating all patient safety and risk issues.
* Leading and supporting the communication and management of the issues through the incident reporting system (Datix) in line with policy.
* The post holder will have a unique opportunity to develop the clinical governance role and risk management both locally and regionally. This will include exposure locally, regionally and nationally through collaborative working with the Operational Delivery Network to deliver on risk management strategies.
* The post holder will participate in training and education of staff within neonatal services engendering a proactive and positive clinical governance culture which enables learning and practice development in line with best practice standards.

Qualifications
* NMC registered Nurse
* Health related Degree
* Mentorship/ teaching qualification
* Safeguarding level 1, 2 & 3
* Health related Masters Degree
* Basic counselling/coaching skills
Knowledge
* Knowledge of safeguarding Children and adults
* Knowledge of clinical audit systems and processes
* Evidence of significant clinical knowledge and experience
* Knowledge of BAPM standards of care and national guidance
* Experience of undertaking Datix investigations
* Experience of leading a team
* Evidence of evaluating clinical practice through research/audit
* Experience of project/quality and performance management
* Evidence of developing new practices
