Arriva Road Transport Services (ARTS), part of Arriva UK Trains, oversees and manages all aspects of coaches, buses, taxis, and coordinators for rail replacement, special events, school support, and train crew support across the portfolio of customers within ARTS, both pre-planned and on an emergency basis.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Lead Auditor based in our Derby offices. Reporting to the Compliance and Safety Manager, you will be accountable for leading and managing audit requirements for external operators and contributing to various aspects of our Health and Safety policies.
The role ensures that all aspects of supplier compliance requirements are organized to meet SLA requirements and client needs, with documentation regarding audits checked, confirmed, and approved.

Safety Responsibilities:
* Promote collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to plan, implement, and sustain the delivery of the Safety Management System across the business and develop a planned programme of audits with our pool of operators, including all Coach and Taxi Operators.
* Engage Operators in the field, completing various audits (face-to-face, remote, or on-site) and providing feedback to support operators in implementing corrective actions to maintain and exceed expected SLA requirements.
* Work as part of a team to deliver a safe, reliable, and efficient rail replacement service through desk-based audit checks before or after operations, satisfying all Arriva Group Assurance requirements, including supplier compliance documentation and vehicle checks (particularly PSVAR compliant).
* Stay updated with industry best practices, regulations, and standards to identify opportunities for improving audit processes and implement changes to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
Compliance Responsibilities:
* Organize and deliver effective audits on external suppliers or coordinators in line with contractual obligations.
* Plan and undertake risk-based audits on operators or during on-the-ground live operations to ensure adherence to Health and Safety and compliance.
* Coordinate audit report writing, post-audit debriefs, follow-up meetings, and actions.
* Promote change initiatives within the Compliance and Safety department and across ARTS, fostering a culture that develops employees and supports succession plans; manage performance, training, qualifications, and development of staff to drive improvements.
* Attend meetings with internal/external stakeholders, representing Arriva UK Trains positively and professionally.
* Assist the Safety and Compliance Manager with KPI data and risk/opportunity information for monthly operational board meetings and reports and with the strategic development and growth of the department.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience in auditing or a related field.
* Experience in the transport industry.
* Detailed understanding of Health and Safety within the workplace and operations.
* Team player with a proactive, high-quality approach to administration.
* Ability to oversee and deliver acceptable audit outcomes with suppliers.
* Ability to analyze and implement workable solutions to audit issues.
* Ability to manage interactions and relationships between external and internal stakeholders on compliance issues.
* Ability to plan, organize, implement, and deliver audits with suppliers.
Although not essential, the following would be beneficial:
* ISO Internal Auditor or ISO Lead Auditor qualification.
* Proficiency in audit software and tools.
* NEBOSH Qualified.
