MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN | FULL TIME, PERMANENT
£28,245.02 per annum.
37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week. The role requires Saturday working on a rota basis (either 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 Saturdays to be worked - no Sunday work).
Usually 8am-4pm with 30-minute unpaid lunch break, but this will vary.
Job Purpose
This job is of a hands-on nature to facilitate the proper functioning of the school to ensure a safe and satisfactory working and learning environment.
Accountable To
Head of Estates and Operations
Key Responsibilities
1. School Estate and Grounds
Work with the wider facilities team to maintain the buildings and grounds of the school. Required tasks will include:
1. To repair and maintain school buildings and mechanical and electrical equipment to a professional standard.
2. Painting and Decorating of school premises.
3. To lead and supervise Estates Assistants in the performance of maintenance tasks.
4. Supporting the wider facilities team in the performance of compliance management.
5. To manage subcontractors performing maintenance and installation work on the school’s premises.
6. To deputise as necessary for the other leadership roles within the Estates Team.
7. Ensuring that all paths and external areas are clean, clear of debris and maintained throughout the year (clear of ice and snow in the winter).
2. Caretaking
Work with the wider facilities team:
1. To ensure that rooms are set-up as required for school and other uses.
2. To perform any porterage tasks.
3. To open and lock school’s facilities as required.
3. Road Safety
Work with the wider facilities team on a rota basis to ensure that a road crossing which splits the school campuses is manned at peak and other times to allow the safe crossing of pupils.
4. Safeguarding
Adhere to school policy on safeguarding and child protection training as required.
5. General Requirements of the Role
• Work with the wider facilities team to undertake other duties that may be required of the department including occasional minibus driving.
• Undertake all training courses as necessary to carry out duties and undertake any other tasks, as directed by the Head of Estates and Operations, which are not included in the above, but are consistent with the role.
6. Health and Safety Duties
• To ensure that all faults or potential hazards are dealt with appropriately or if unable to make safe, ensure they are reported immediately to the Head of Estates and Operations.
• To carry out all duties in accordance with health and safety legislation and the school’s health and safety policy.
• To help ensure that all visitors/contractors wear appropriate security passes when working in school premises or on school grounds.
• To report anything or anyone suspicious on school grounds.
The Ideal Candidate
A full UK Driving Licence is required to be eligible for this position.
