An outstanding specialist school in Salisbury is looking for a dedicated Pastoral & Learning Support Assistant/Aspiring Youth Justice Worker to join them immediately. All the students have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and associated challenging behaviours. The school is therefore looking for a Pastoral & Learning Support Assistant who is knowledgeable about Psychology or Criminology and has a passion for helping young people make positive choices!
This Specialist School has a deep focus on addressing the educational, social, and therapeutic needs of each student, focusing on individual happiness and well-being where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal Aspiring Youth Justice Worker will have excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, empathy, and previous experience working with children.
Responsibilities
1. Provide essential restorative experience within anti-social and challenging settings.
2. Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges and traumas.
3. Identify risks and needs of students who have suffered adverse childhood experiences.
4. Provide consistency and equip children and young people with tools to feel safe, secure, and empowered.
Qualifications
This role is an amazing opportunity for Criminology and Psychology Graduates. You will gain hands-on experience working with vulnerable children, building strong, robust relationships to increase engagement, attainment, and life chances, aiming to ensure they do not enter the criminal justice system.
