Responsible for producing high quality ultrasound images within the radiology service both at QEH and satellite diagnostic sites; delivering a first class service meeting the needs of referrers and patients. To perform and independently report on a comprehensive range of ultrasound protocols in accordance with departmental protocols while maintaining the highest quality of patient care and imaging. Trainee Consultant Breast Radiographer To train towards delivering autonomous clinical practice to the equivalent level of a Consultant Radiologist including: interpretation of, and reporting of all mammographic and ultrasound imaging of the breast and axilla. breast lesion localisations, needle core biopsies and vacuum assisted procedures under stereotactic and ultrasound guidance. To fulfil the quality standards required by the National Health Breast Screening Programme [NHSBSP] and confirm this by undertaking audit and clinical governance activities. To train to supervise, mentor and develop other Consultant Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners, and other team members, providing a model of expert practice in terms of knowledge and experience and use clinical research as a basis to extend the scope of practice within the unit. To act as a source of expert professional advice to medical consultants, other professionals, multi-disciplinary groups, patients, and their carers. After completion of training and suitable post qualifying experience to provide cover for the Radiology Breast Consultants duties and clinics in order to ensure continuity of the service. To conduct statistical analysis for compliance with national guidelines. To fully contribute to Breast MDT Cross Cutting Exercise and demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment, discretion and clinical decision making. Be responsible for completing ultrasound guided biopsy, drainage and fine needle aspirations to aid the diagnosis and management for patient treatment. Participate in evaluation and research to ensure practice is evidence based in order to improve standards of care within ultrasound and breast services. To analyse complex information from multiple sources and translate findings into recommendations, policy decisions and actions To lead quality initiatives to continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance framework to ensure the highest quality of care is provided in the safest manner
