As a 2nd Officer (Deck)/Senior Officer of the Watch, you will be responsible for undertaking the safe navigation of the ship using radar, ECDIS and all other bridge equipment and available means. You will monitor the ships position, speed, direction and stability, as well as the latest weather reports and make any necessary adjustments, reporting any deficiencies to the Deputy Captain. You will be responsible for monitoring, interpret and apply meteorological information, such as wind speed and direction, swell height and period, tides, currents and weather forecasts, identifying and reporting issues early to ensure adjustments to the passage can be made accordingly. As 2nd Officer you will take ownership of supervising Junior Officers and Cadets on watch and support the First Officer with any training needs identified for the bridge team. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating the Deck Log and any records including ILO and ballast logs. Checking the ships statutory certificates ensuring all are in date and highlight to the Deputy Captain any that are due for renewal. Your duties will also include safety related maintenance tasks, conducting monthly mooring line inspections, updating records accordingly in addition to reporting deficiencies to the Deputy Captain and Safety Officer. Work with the Safety Officer as and when required. All candidates will require a valid ENG1 medical certificate (or equivalent) for the duration of each voyage and are required to obtain a US C1/D visa and be fully vaccinated. Previous cruise ship experience is desirable for this position With our fleet ever changing we are planning for the future, this means that the role you are applying for is in our Talent Pool.
