T4S is looking for a Finance Manager for a role based in Thanet. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated finance professional to join a dynamic school environment, helping to ensure strong financial management that supports outstanding education. You will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team, managing the school’s budget, financial reporting, payroll, procurement, and compliance processes. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with a proactive, collaborative approach. The Role: As our Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of the school’s finances, ensuring full compliance with statutory and funding requirements. You will work closely with the Headteacher, Governors, and senior leadership team to deliver accurate financial advice, reporting, and budget management. Key Responsibilities: Develop, manage, and monitor the school’s budget, ensuring financial health and sustainability. Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for the Headteacher, Governors, and external auditors. Manage payroll systems, including pensions, statutory payments, and staff benefits. Oversee procurement processes and supplier contracts to ensure value for money. Ensure compliance with audit, regulatory, and funding requirements. Manage cash flow forecasts, financial planning, and risk management strategies. Support and lead the preparation for external audits and regulatory inspections. Apply for grants and manage restricted funding streams. Provide financial training and support to school staff where needed. Lead and improve financial systems, controls, and processes across the school. Skills and Experience: Proven experience in financial management, ideally within an education or public sector environment. Strong knowledge of budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and financial software packages. Experience with school financial systems such as PS Financials, Sage for Education, FMS, or Xero (desirable). Knowledge of payroll systems such as iTrent, EduPay, or SIMS (advantageous). A strong understanding of compliance, audit, and risk management within a school context. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues. Qualifications: A relevant financial qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or substantial equivalent experience is required.
