Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the design and development of aerospace components and systems, ensuring they meet all engineering, safety, and regulatory requirements.
* Lead testing and evaluation processes, coordinating projects from inception to delivery, including budgeting and scheduling.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, including hiring, training, and performance management.
* Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
* Stay abreast of technological advancements in aerospace engineering, integrating them into current and future projects.
* Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to secure high-quality materials and services.
* Enable operations to achieve On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery to cost and quality standards.
* Support the build line and drive continuous improvements in the manufacturing process.
* Achieve improvement plans on time, maintaining quality and cost efficiency.
* Manage configuration, budget, and performance, both technical and personal development.
* Serve as a technical interface with business development and customers, securing approvals and resolving complex problems.
* Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9145, and Nadcap standards, leading New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes.
Experience and Qualifications
* Degree or HN qualification in Design, Mechanical and Production Engineering, or Properties of Materials (preferred but not essential).
* Senior leadership experience in forging or metal forming operations, managing multiple teams in a unionised environment.
* Proven track record with a successful portfolio of change achievements.
* Fully conversant with aerospace approvals – Nadcap / AS.
* An ambassador for lean, quality tools, and technologies.
