PURPOSE OF JOB
To effectively and efficiently manage the home to a high standard. To work within and ensure effective delivery of the main responsibilities and key result areas identified within the role of a manager. To ensure good outcomes for all the young people placed at the home.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Lytham Care aims to offer a caring, supportive residential environment for the young person in its care. As part of this environment, a stable and consistent framework of appropriate routines and behavioural boundaries is seen as being of paramount importance. Many young people entering residential care bring with them, as a result of previous learning and harmful experiences, attitudes that test and push these boundaries. Therefore, it is essential that the living environment be such that it balances care with control.
The aim of this approach is to help young people to an understanding of what is socially acceptable behaviour on which to base their future life in the community.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Take overall responsibility for all staff, delegating effectively and appropriately.
2. Manage and monitor labour costs, staffing structures and rotas, ensuring they meet requirements of the children’s needs and are in line with allocated labour budgets.
3. Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to adherence of policies, both in the home, the organisation and those set out in Children’s Legislation and Regulations.
4. Ensure all staff adhere to and work within the policies and procedures established in the organisation and the home.
5. Develop and make known to staff a variety of intervention strategies regarding behaviour management.
6. Take a lead in ensuring meetings and reviews of children and staff are delivered within required time scales.
7. Ensure effective delivery of individual care planning requirements for children.
8. Ensure that the high standards expected in the delivery of care are upheld, and that the standing of the Company is maintained.
9. Ensure the home has sufficient and varied information which is accessible to all regarding access to support agencies that will promote the health and wellbeing of children in placement.
10. Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which children feel that they can complain and that they are listened to.
11. Ensure that the home functions in such a manner that staff; children understand, recognise and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community.
12. Complete the administration of financial, payroll and staffing related matters in the home within the prescribed time scales.
13. Work in collaboration with Human Resources to manage all employee relations within the home, in line with current employment legislation and Lytham Care policies and procedures.
14. Work within the code of confidentiality and ensure that records in the home are stored and held in a manner which is compliant with regulations.
15. Provide staff with sufficient information that ensures they understand the role of a key worker and devise monitoring systems, which will ensure this is delivered to a high standard.
16. Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.
17. Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practice, homes procedures, company policies and children’s regulations.
18. Ensure staff are aware of and deliver the support required, to ensure the life chance opportunities of children are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.
19. To have systems and processes in place which all staff understands, and are compliant with Safeguarding and Child Protection under Children’s Regulations.
20. At all times promote and ensure anti discriminatory practice.
21. Produce, co-ordinate and edit reports to ensure they are delivered to a high standard.
22. Design systems and processes for the delivery of supervision, and Personal Development Plans (PDP) to all members of staff, working within the organisations policies and procedures.
23. Directly deliver supervision to identified members of staff, in relation to Supervision and Personal Development Plans (PDP).
24. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
25. Safeguard and protect the health and wellbeing of children.
26. Work in partnership with families, local authorities and external agencies.
27. You must co-operate with the Company in complying with the Health and Safety requirements and are therefore expected to follow Company policies.
28. Carry out relevant risk assessments of unsafe practices and conditions that present a safety risk.
Other Requirements:
1. Some shift work which includes evening/sleeps – plus willingness to provide ‘on-call’ cover on a rotational basis.
2. Knowledge of ClearCare Electronic Recording an advantage but not essential.
3. Minimum qualification requirements re Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. Working towards Level 5 or willing to work towards Level 5.
