Hill is looking for a Senior Strategic Planning Manager to join our high-performing Strategic Land team. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the planning and project management of our strategic land portfolio, working at the heart of projects that shape communities and support our ambitious business plan. About the Role As Senior Strategic Planning Manager, you’ll take ownership of strategic land projects from acquisition through the planning process, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery. You’ll provide strategic oversight, budget and programme management, and be a key contact for internal and external stakeholders including landowners, planning consultants, and local authorities. You’ll also play a vital role in identifying and assessing new land opportunities and driving business development across our expanding portfolio. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning promotion and project management of strategic land projects in line with business objectives. Act as the key contact for landowners, consultants, and planning authorities. Support the Strategic Land Director in evaluating new opportunities and delivering against the Group’s strategic land business plan. Manage project timelines, budgets, legal and planning processes, and consultant teams. Oversee risk management, planning due diligence, and financial reporting including appraisals and viability assessments. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth transition of projects to development stages. Uphold health & safety responsibilities across strategic sites not yet in development. Champion best practice, sustainability, and design quality across all projects. What We’re Looking For Essential: Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., MRTPI or RICS) Degree/HND/NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Planning, Land Management, or related discipline Proven track record in promoting land through the planning system to consent Experience in strategic land acquisition, site promotion, and large-scale housing schemes (100 homes) Strong understanding of planning law, legal contracts, and development processes Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills Commercial acumen and experience producing financial reports and appraisals Collaborative leadership style with experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams Desirable: Strong negotiation skills and problem-solving ability A passion for creating high-quality communities aligned with Hill’s values Why Hill?
