Applications are invited for the appointment of a substantive Consultant Neurologist based at the Kettering General NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. The successful candidate will have CCT or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register for Neurology when they take up the post (applications are welcome from those within six months of their CCT date).
We are seeking a motivated individual to help develop neurological services, particularly in delivering an outpatient programme that meets the changing needs of our local population in the evolving healthcare landscape. The successful candidate(s) will join a team of two other neurologists, supported by a middle grade experienced full-time Registrar and two full-time specialist nurses, along with community specialist nurses for MS and Parkinson's disease. KGH has in-house EMG service, CT & MRI. Neuroradiology and Neuropathology services are available via Oxford University Hospital. The post will also include dedicated time to attend weekly clinical, educational, and neuroradiology meetings.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive general outpatient neurology service to the catchment area of Kettering General Hospital, alongside existing Neurology consultants and Neurology specialist nurses. The postholder will also provide specialist inpatient review where required, with access to inpatient beds at Kettering General Hospital. Junior support is available via Registrar.

* Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Neurology patients.
* Sharing responsibility with colleagues for the day-to-day management of general Neurology patients.
* Providing a full range of neurological services.
* Contributing to the development of the service.
* Teaching and training junior staff, nurses, and medical students from Leicester.
* Actively participating in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
* Ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
Provisional assessment of programmed activities in job plan: 10 PA 8 DCC /2 SPA.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent.
* CCT in Neurology or registration on GMC Specialist Register in Neurology (or within six months of achieving CCST at the time of the interview).
* General training in Neurology to specialist level or equivalent.
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of neurological problems.
* Evidence of logical thinking and a practical approach to style of working.
* Willingness to supervise and develop junior team members.
* Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, or national levels.
