We have an exiting opportunity for a full time Peer Support Practitioner to join our team within the FOLS team based at TGU Unit located in Maidstone.
Our vision is to improve the patient experience, promote physical well being, as well as supporting our patients through recovery and discharge into the community and support patients in the community. We strive to provide a smooth transition for our patients from inpatient services into the community.
The team consists of a multi-disciplinary support workers, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, junior doctors and consultants.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role is to support service users to establish greater control over their lives. Helping to identify aspects of life that give meaning, hope, value and purpose, whilst recognising that each individual's recovery is a distinctive and deeply personal process.
As an integral and valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will provide support to individuals within the service, by role modelling and using lived experience.

Person Specification
Training
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent
Experience
* Lived experience of a vulnerability that TGU currently identify, including but not limited to: mental health issues, learning difficulties, social care needs, drug/alcohol misuse, homelessness, financial or employment problems.
* Personal experience of using services that support wellbeing/recovery from the above vulnerabilities.
* Personal experience of contact with the criminal justice system i.e. police or courts.
* Experience of working or volunteering with people with similar vulnerabilities.
Knowledge and Skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Good IT skills including Word, Outlook and the ability to use the RiO electronic records system, or be willing to undergo training.
