What sort of work? We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Specialist to join our HR team, based in either our Bristol or Exeter offices. We would be looking for someone on a full-time basis or 4 days per week.
The purpose of this role is to provide support to the firm in the development and delivery of a high-quality learning and development function and assist the HR team and firm in its overall goals. Other duties will include:
* Taking the lead on appropriate development programme offerings and working with the Senior L&D Manager as appropriate.
* Designing and delivering management and business skills training and identifying suitable training interventions.
* Supporting with identifying and assessing the training needs across the firm.
* Supporting with the design, development and implementation of competency frameworks for all roles across the firm.
* Assisting with the assessment and selection processes for key promotion milestones including Partners and Managing Associates.
* Supporting with the development of our Learning Management System.
* Conducting research into the external market and new initiatives in the areas of learning and talent development and providing the highest levels of service to our internal and external clients.
* Closely liaise with other key teams in particularly Knowledge, IT and Risk & Compliance to ensure a joined-up approach by responding to queries and requests promptly and efficiently.
* Attending network events, sharing knowledge with the HR team, actively contribute to team meetings and maintain effective and friendly communication at all levels.
* Taking ownership of delegated tasks, projects and developing and implementing ideas for improving service delivery and ways of working within the team.
* Maintaining awareness of the L&D budget and providing up to date records of agreed rates held with training providers and regularly assess the value for money and return on investment.
* Ensuring that working practices effectively support lawyers across the firm.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and thrive in our culture. The role will be based in our Exeter or Bristol offices, with occasional travel between our other offices as required. The ideal candidate will have:
* A good level of basic education including Grade C or above in Maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent).
* Strong IT Skills (Microsoft Office 2010, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Experience of working in a team providing administrative support is essential.
* Experience of co-ordinating and delegating work.
* Experience working within a training and development role co-ordinating skills development programmes would be an advantage.
* Experience working with Learning Management systems.

* Strong interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal).
* A commercial and professional approach to work.
* Thorough in approach, with excellent attention to detail.
