The Global Macro Strategy team is seeking an Executive Director to lead our US rates strategy effort and manage a group of strategists dedicated to US rates markets in New York. The role involves communicating with institutional clients, writing research notes, conducting bespoke analysis, and directing the build out and maintenance of analytical models. The candidate must possess strong analytical, interpersonal, excel, oral and written communication skills.
What will you be doing?
1. Generate written research for client consumption.
2. Develop and maintain relationships with institutional clients.
3. Manage a group of rates strategists dedicated to US rates markets.
4. Respond to requests for information, calls, and data from internal and external clients.
5. Keep abreast of industry-related news flow.
6. Collaborate with the other research teams on branded and thematic publications.
7. Regular interaction with fixed-income sales and trading force.
Qualifications - External
What we’re looking for:
1. Extensive experience in the US fixed-income market in interest rate analysis, quantitative analysis, or similar.
2. Familiarity with government bond markets, macroeconomic drivers, geopolitical drivers required.
3. Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
4. Must have the ability to work independently and with the broader team.
5. Strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to multitask and prioritize is a must.
Skills that will help you in the role:
1. Advanced degree in a finance-based subject (desirable).
2. Strong knowledge of US bank portfolio investment management and regulatory dynamics a plus.
3. Programming skills.

Expected base pay rate for the role will be between $225,000 to $250,000 per year for Vice President level at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
