Your experience Either a proven customer-facing Managing Director/General Manager or a Commercial/Sales & Marketing Director looking for their first MD role. Commercial leadership experience in a B2B technical product environment (eg. materials testing equipment, scientific instrumentation, precision engineering etc,) supplying industrial laboratories, academic/research institutions and, preferably, OEMs. Degree qualified in an Engineering, Electronics, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or other STEM discipline. Technical/Engineering competence. Proven experience of managing & developing a Management Team to continually raise competence and aspirations across the business. Strong commercial awareness and, preferably, international experience. Your Style and Skills Outwards looking, market driven you enjoy understanding market trends and direction and are able to map strategy onto this. Confident and keen to take personal responsibility for leading and growing the business consistently and profitably. Intellectually strong and able to distil complex problems into simple solutions - but yet pragmatic, determined and practical enough to ensure that the resulting actions are enacted and delivered with pace. Financially literate and astute and able to identify and manage the changing balance between control and investment as necessary. Inclusive, open and fair, but with a determination that you and your team deliver to your commitments. A passion to continually improve every aspect of a business.
