Healthcare Navigator / Medical Receptionist
We are looking for 2 reception staff to join our friendly general practice based in Coseley with a registered population of 7,600. Two positions are available: 27.5 hours and 22 hours.
You will be working with the reception team, consisting of 6 part-time staff. We are a friendly practice with 7,600 registered patients. You will be responsible for the smooth running of patient flow. IT skills are necessary as we are moving to AI to support the practice with patient demand. Training will be provided if needed. We are looking for someone who is flexible, friendly, and works well in a team setting.
Main Duties of the Job
The purpose of the healthcare navigation role is to ensure that patients can access health services, including contacting or making an appointment to see a doctor in the appropriate manner depending on need, and that all patient records are up-to-date and available for all users when required.
The role also contributes to maintaining practice administrative systems such as data input, new patient registrations, correspondence, results, and repeat prescribing systems.

Job Responsibilities
Reception/admin staff will greet patients when they arrive at the practice and ensure that they are assisted appropriately. This includes the following list, which is not exhaustive:
* Handle patients presenting at reception as an emergency in accordance with the practice's protocol.
* Provide future/on-the-day appointments in accordance with the practice's Access Protocol.
* Advise walk-in patients about how to access the service according to patient need.
* Welcome and provide practice information/registration protocol details for patients wishing to register with the practice.
* Process changes of address/patient details/mobile numbers, etc.
* Record and pass on messages.
* Assist with unlocking and locking the surgery and ensure adherence to security procedures.
* Contribute to the updating and maintenance of all patient records, including updating registration and clinical details.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous GP experience.
* Knowledge of EMIS system.
Qualifications
* GCSE grade C or equivalent in English.
* Pass in maths.
* Must be able to communicate effectively.
* Have a sympathetic attitude and awareness of patient needs.
* Able to work under pressure.
* Must be flexible to provide holiday and sick leave cover.
