Your role
Your mission is to expand, rationalize and support the factored goods portfolio of the Scientific Vacuum division in cooperation with product marketing, procurement and engineering. You will become the liaison for all factored good activity and communication related to selection, ongoing quality, and customer/product support activities.
As Product Engineer, you will report into the Divisional Product Quality Manager.
* You will become the technical authority for factored goods within the SVD portfolio.
* You will conduct technical assessments within the established NPI process framework and provide recommendations of supplier and product suitability for introduction into the current SVD factored goods portfolio.
* You will assess the technologies, performance, quality, safety, reliability, and robustness of all factored products, ensuring they meet specified requirements and internal and external approval standards.
* You will establish and maintain control of reported failures/returns and collaborate directly with suppliers to deliver the correct level of failure analysis on an individual case-by-case basis.
* You maintain suitable report methods to communicate major products/supplier performance.
* You will provide technical support to sales teams, and if required directly to customers, for our factored product portfolio; work with the supplier to understand and resolve customer/quality issues.
* You will from time-to-time and with the assistance of other functions, audit supplier manufacturing processes to ensure continued confidence in and understanding of the products we factor.
* You will organize the release and maintenance of the portfolio in SAP and related systems.
To succeed, you need
* Educational background: Graduated with an engineering degree in e.g. mechanical / electrical engineering or comparable technical degree.
* The factored goods product portfolio covers different technologies; vacuum pumps, pump accessories, gauges, valves, helium leak detector and RGA's, therefore a good and broad understanding of vacuum products, their technologies and their application must be built up overtime to fulfil the role requirements; hence an inquisitive and self-learning nature will be critical for this role.
* Managing your own work schedule and priorities, while working as a part of a small team to deliver and support the factored goods portfolio.
* A good understanding of product development, testing, reliability and quality assessments, along with manufacturing methods and processes, how to assess their repeatability and robustness, will be an advantage or need to be learned.
* Assist suppliers to conduct root cause analysis from a customer application perspective.
* Understand, summarize and clearly deliver technical data presentations to both internal and external audiences.
* Supplier auditing experience would be beneficial or must be part of the ongoing development.
* Communication, presentation and negotiating skills at the highest levels.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and SAP is desirable.
* Fluency in English, other languages are beneficial.

Job location
We are a global team working in a hybrid model. We have offices in Germany, Czech Republic, UK and China. This role will be based in Burgess Hill (UK), Cologne (Germany) or Lutin (CZ).
