You'll be joining our Research, Development and Support (ReDs) team, working in the Pre-award Section. In this role, you'll help us to deliver comprehensive pre-award services, including providing guidance on interpreting funder requirements, budget preparation and supporting compliance checks, amongst other tasks. Ultimately, our role is to support researchers in crafting and submitting competitive and high-quality proposals. Within the role, there will be opportunities to develop your expertise within the research funding landscape - engaging with research proposal and budget development, and building valuable experience in working with a broad range of researchers and professional staff both within BAS and with our international collaborators. Current projects the team are working on include supporting major interdisciplinary grant proposals with external partners based worldwide, including initiatives focused on climate change and other global challenges. Some of your main responsibilities will include: - Working closely with the Senior Pre-Award Research Manager, and other Professional Services colleagues, to support researchers with drafting funding applications, building project costings, checking eligibility and submission criteria, and managing the progression of the application to ensure timely submission. - Supporting our Contracts and Licensing Manager to ensure appropriate T&Cs are reviewed and supporting the administration processes surrounding our engagement with LoUs/MoUs. - Proactively identify, publicise and encourage exploitation of possible appropriate funding opportunities for research grants - compilation and dissemination of the Funding Bulletin. - Contribute to the development of a supportive climate for bidding for funding e.g. effective processes, systems and management information. For the role of Pre-Award Grants Manager (Maternity Cover), we are looking for somebody who has: - An understanding of the research funding landscape and familiarity with major funding bodies (e.g., UKRI, EU, US) and their application processes. - Experience in supporting research proposal development and a track record of contributing to the development of successful grant applications. - Strong numeracy and analytical skills: Confident in interpreting and analysing financial data, developing budgets, and understanding cost models. - Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with people at all levels with a view to building and maintaining positive working relationships.
