Job summary Due to the expansion of our PACS service, we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled PACS/RIS Systems Administrator to join our dedicated and friendly team. The ideal candidate will have specialist expertise in managing multiple IT systems, including PACS and RIS, with a strong understanding of their integration within clinical workflows. Detailed knowledge of HL7 and DICOM is essential to support modality integrations and facilitate the introduction of non-imaging devices. In addition, the role requires strong hardware setup and deployment skills to ensure seamless system functionality across multiple sites. Main duties of the job System Management: Maintain knowledge of RIS, PACS, and Cardiology systems Perform routine checks and first-line support for related equipment Assist in system testing for upgrades and ensure compatibility Data & Imaging Support: Act as a contact for data queries and imaging waiting list information Manage image data transfers, PACS helpdesk logs, and CD production Monitor PACS for errors, resolve data integrity issues, and perform reconciliations Upload external image data and digitize hard-copy images Equipment & User Support: Create user accounts for new staff. Assist with installation, relocation, and maintenance of PACS equipment Monitor and report system faults, performing minor hardware fixes Quality & Governance: Assist with quality assurance, clinical audits, and research compliance Advise on medico-legal issues related to image storage and transfer Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies Planning & Organisation: Prioritise tasks to meet system and service needs Support imaging system expansions and maintain equipment logs Work flexibly and provide cover during absences Training & Development: Assist in developing training materials and staff training Support student radiographers and clerical staff in PACS usage Participate in professional development and mandatory training General & Professional Duties: Support major incident responses and maintain professional conduct Promote high-quality patient care and service excellence About us We are recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK.
